About the Author

Enrico “Rico” Barone is a dedicated member of the Schuyler County Lodging and Tourism Association and a passionate advocate for the Finger Lakes region. Since arriving in the Finger Lakes in 2008, Rico has immersed himself in the area’s vibrant culture, particularly its renowned wine industry. His journey began with visits to local wineries and establishments, where his love for wine deepened into a lifelong passion. Traveling across various wine regions to experience diverse flavors and traditions remains one of his favorite pastimes. 

Rico selected his property with care, choosing a location that truly embodies the heart of the Finger Lakes. Originally a Concord grape vineyard supplying juice companies, the land retains some of its original plantings, maintained partly for their nostalgic value. Each harvest season, the grapes are picked mainly for juices and jellies, with guests invited to enjoy complimentary U-pick Concord grape experiences. 

Despite Concord grapes being overshadowed by vinifera varieties in the modern wine market, Rico saw the potential to develop his property into a premier lodging destination that celebrates the region’s heritage. His vision was fueled by the need for welcoming accommodations and quality dining options for visitors to enjoy. Vineyard Villas reflects his commitment to offering an exceptional experience that highlights the best of the Finger Lakes. 

Before turning his dream into reality, Rico built a successful career spanning 37 years as a journeyman HVAC technician throughout the New York City Tri-State area. His extensive expertise in construction and mechanical work proved invaluable in designing and building the first six lodging units on the east side of Seneca Lake. His hands-on knowledge ensures that every aspect of Vineyard Villas meets the highest standards of comfort and quality.
